Ruza Kansakar

UX Case Study

Problem Statement

The previous UI was cluttered and unintuitive, making navigation between services, hotels, and booking options difficult. Users struggled with service discovery, as browsing or searching for services was not seamless, significantly impacting usability. Additionally, the booking process was long and convoluted, leading to frustration and high dropout rates. The design also lacked essential features such as proper scheduling, clear slot availability indicators, and functionalities like subscription-based bookings, further limiting the app’s effectiveness.

Objectives & Goals

Simplify navigation and booking flow for a seamless user experience.

Make it easier for users to find and book services quickly.

Reduce friction in scheduling, availability checks, and payments.

Create a visually appealing and intuitive interface aligned with user needs.

Design Thinking Process

The goal is to enhance the user experience and add value by redesigning the UI/UX of the Jhattai Booking app. Following the Design Thinking process, I will create a user-centric solution that improves navigation, simplifies booking, and ensures seamless service discovery.

Research and Analysis

Reviewed the app, analyzed user feedback, and identified pain points.

Wireframing

Created low-fidelity wireframes to validate navigation and flow.

UI Design

Developed high-fidelity, modern, and minimalistic designs.

Prototype

Built a Figma prototype to test user interactions.

Iteration

Refined the design based on feedback to align with business and user needs.

Solution

Simplified navigation: A more intuitive UI with organized layouts allowed users to easily switch between booking services and hotels.

Enhanced discovery options: A robust filtering and search system was implemented, allowing users to find and explore services more efficiently.

Streamlined booking flow: Redesigning the booking process shortened the steps, making it quicker and easier to confirm bookings.

Scheduling clarity: Clear visual indicators were introduced to show availability, making it easy for users to identify open or booked slots.

Subscription booking: Added functionality for subscription-based bookings, enhancing the app’s flexibility.

My Role

I redesigned the user interface with a clean, intuitive layout to improve navigation and enhance the overall visual experience. The user flow was streamlined, making the booking process quicker and more efficient. Additionally, I integrated key features such as real-time availability, subscription-based bookings, and improved service discovery, ensuring the app met both user expectations and client requirements.

User Needs

Ease of use: Users wanted a straightforward, intuitive way to book services and hotels.

Quick service discovery: The ability to quickly find available services and assess their details.

Clarity in availability: Users needed a clear way to see slot availability to avoid booking conflicts.

Flexibility: The app required a way to offer recurring bookings or subscriptions, making it easier for frequent users to manage services.

User Persona

Goals

Quickly find and book venues or accommodations for photoshoots.

Easily manage multiple bookings and schedule changes.

Discover new services that enhance his work, like studio rentals or equipment hire.

Pain points

Struggles with service discovery due to poor categorization.

Managing multiple bookings is cumbersome and time-consuming.

Lack of clear scheduling options, leading to double bookings.

I need a platform that lets me book and manage everything on the go, without unnecessary complications.

Goals

Book services and hotels easily for business travel.

Subscribe to frequent services like car rentals or conference rooms.

Quickly check availability and avoid overbooking.

Pain points

Previous app design was hard to navigate, leading to frustration.

Difficulty in finding available slots and services that matched her needs.

Complex booking process requiring multiple steps.

I just want a quick and hassle-free way to book services without digging through endless options.

How My Redesign Improved the App

Clear and structured navigation: I introduced a clean layout with a side menu for easier access to key functionalities.

Better visual hierarchy: Important elements like the booking button and availability status were made more prominent.

Real-time availability: I integrated a calendar view that shows slot availability in real-time, making it much easier for users to book services at a glance.

Optimized for user needs: Subscription and recurring booking features were integrated, providing more value for frequent users.

Flaws in Previous Design

Overwhelming Interface: Too many options were crammed onto a single screen, confusing users.

Unclear booking process: Users struggled to follow the booking flow due to the lack of visual hierarchy.

No real-time slot availability: Users often tried to book services only to find out later that slots were unavailable.

Changes I Made

Clear and structured navigation: I introduced a clean layout with a side menu for easier access to key functionalities.

Visual updates: A clean, modern interface was introduced with better spacing, typography, and color schemes to enhance readability.

Service addition: Made it easier for service providers to add new services with an intuitive, step-by-step process.

Availability indicators: Introduced visual cues (e.g., green for available, red for booked) to improve clarity.
